Let’s talk about COVID aka “Rona” i.e. Corona Virus.
We’ve come a long way people. Since March, we can state that we have all gone through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance or we can say that every individual is at some stage of the grief process in regards to Covid-19.
It’s November.
The second wave is underway. The statistics showing are blowing up. We are not on the edges of our seats anymore. We are accustomed to the new normal. Our new normal. That is not okay.
Wherever you are reading this from, I bet you are asking yourself, “Haiya, kwani what are the numbers?” and because you stopped watching the news and unfollowed all related trends on social media, “wacha nikupashe…” As at 1st November, 2020, our country’s Ministry of Health informed us that 685 people tested positive for COVID-19, from a sample size of 4,433 tested. This brings the total number of confirmed infections to 55,877 cases.
Are you alarmed yet? Yes? No?
The number of positive patients is too large to be accommodated in the hospitals such that field hospitals have been put up to accommodate the overflow of patients. In addition to all this, statistics show that the individual measures to curb the spread of this virus are close to non-existent. However, we applaud the 1% that is taking initiative to actively engage in preventative practices.
We as Keep It Neat & Clean Services consider ourselves among the 1%. We offer a service that aids in limiting the spread of viruses. - It has a residual activity that lasts for between 7-14 days, and remains active even in heavily soiled areas.
In every reality, there is a silver lining, and ours is the clinical trials for the COVID-19 Vaccine being led by Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). Maybe there is hope. Hope that the clinical trials will deem successful. Perhaps a cure in the long run.
Of course, there is always hope among a people.
